Werner Herbers
Werner Herbers was during 35 years principal oboist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, one of the top orchestras in the world.As a classical soloist he performed with legendary conductors such as Haitink, Harnoncourt, Berio and Chailly and as a jazzsoloist with a.o. the Jazzorchestra of the Concertgebouw.
Herbers was also a member and joint artistic director of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble until 1988. The ensemble made numerous succesful tours in the US, Japan, Australia and all over Europe.
In 1990 Herbers founded the Ebony Band, composed of members of the RCO and concerned with performances of unknown or forgotten music from the first half of the 20th century.
For many years, Werner Herbers has been professor at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Holland) and worked as a coach at the Canton International Music Academy (Guangzhou/China), the Pacific Music Festival (Sapporo/Japan), the Lindenbaum Festival (Seoul/S.Korea) and the Banff Centre (Canada).
Mr.Herbers is also active as a conductor: he led various ensembles in New York, Berlin and Vienna and gave concerts with the Metropole Orchestra, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra and at a Jazzfestival in Los Angeles with a Stan Kenton Alumni Band.
